It doesn’t seem like 13 years since the inception of Facebook. It feels to me, more like 30.
Because it’s been an intense part of our lives.... it has nibbled at the hours.... has influenced our thinking.... occupied our conversations and helped shape our tomorrow’s.
It feels more like 30 years, because it has begged for our attentions, like a baby crying for Mother’s milk.
And in what feels like 30 years, FB has in part fed us. It’s supplied a deluge of ideas and oh dears. We’ve found out what we’re missing out on, falling behind on or slipping up on.
Facebook has also been a book of promise. Promise of good times, promise of inclusion, promise of connection... and promise that today's news feed and messages will make it indispensable!
But the way I SEE IT, the best source of promise is the Lord... because He knows and loves us more thoroughly than any FB identity or page. Our stock in it is sometimes frightening.
There's no other way to say it, but Facebook has grown very old on me. There is a tiredness in its format and function. It’s like a stale loaf of bread in a world that's starving. It's repetitive, lacklustre and dying.
And for those reasons, I believe the Lord would have my ministry platform removed from it’s dusty pages. He is doing new things, not simply in Aliki, but longing for NEW things to unfurl in our hearts... in the church (universal)... and above all, in WHAT CAPTIVATES US.
In leaving common and tired things behind, room is made for the NEW THING. What is the new thing? Well, I'm making room for it to find out!
The ministry of ‘Restoration through Grace’ continues for me upon invitation. I'm still travelling and sharing, still witnessing people transformed by the message of grace.... God breathed opportunities arise from conversations in the real world and I love it! Can I say that again? I'm more in love than ever, with sharing the gospel of grace. It's author enthralls and captivates me.
In this season, I’ve been drawn to local ministry by preaching regularly at my home church. Riverside Church in South Grafton fills my heart with joy.... I adore and uphold my Pastors Greg and Helen Holder. Their vision of life, love and kingdom living is like breathing the air of heaven. Such rare breeds are to be cherished.
This November and December I will be travelling abroad for a deep shot of awareness around human trafficking and it's solutions. In this I know my heart will be broken for the things that break His heart... yet being ‘spilled out’ is a precursor to being spread out and used greatly.
Yes. Life is full... and honestly there is no time to loose... no time to waste... no time like TODAY.
If you would like to stay in touch with my kingdom adventures PLEASE USE THIS LINK and my heart will come to your door!
Drop me a line anytime... or if you’re travelling near Grafton let’s meet face to face! Coffee is on me. Promise.
