I publicly proclaim bold promises. I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner. I would not have told the people of Israel to seek me if I could not be found. I, the Lord, speak only what is true and declare only what is right.
The tone of this scripture is so lovingly absolute that it makes me smile.
To open, the Lord declares that He is different in the ways of communication to what we sometimes experience from each other. We can hesitate to make bold promises or commit to a set of objectives. The meaning of words can become obscure and we are left with a blurry agenda. But the Lord is a type of exhibitionist who doesn't hide His affections in a maize. Rather He loves putting promises of hope out there for everyone to grab hold of.
Our God is honest and bold, saying 'seek me' because he can be found. Sometimes we don't bother looking for God because we think he's impossible to find or disinterested in our journey. But this scripture is a chastisement to that kind of thinking. He is longing for us to take His words of devotion at face value and head towards Him.
This verse lovingly disciplines us for not taking God's invitations seriously. It throws open the way, to seek a God who boldly proclaims..... 'you are loved.'
