Waiting for Rescue?

June 30, 2016

Isaiah 33:10
But the Lord says: 'Now I will stand up. Now I will show my power and might'

I love the opening word of the Lord, 'now'. It sounds like something needed to happen before He could stand up and act.  In context, it is the Lord waiting for the fullness of time before He destroyed the Assyrians in defense of Israel, before He rescued them.

Waiting for 'rescue' is a torment. It can feel for a time that the Lord has forgotten our plight and our address as we watch the calendar tick over and feel despair rise up from within. Yet the Lord has a time in mind to bring justice and level the playing field.

Let this word from Isaiah minister peace and expectation to us. That the King will stand up on our behalf when all the elements of circumstance are in the right position for Him for act. His 'fullness of time' maybe longer than ours, but we can expect Him to care for us.
