Equipped or Whipped

Hebrews 13:20 " Now may the God of peace- who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus...

Equip you with all you need for doing his will.

May he produce in you through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him.

All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

Life on the land is about to change with the addition of two grass cutting devices. Massey Ferguson and Kubota will be the names of our new calves, and I hope I have enough delicious grass for them to live on and enjoy. If there is more than enough, I'll get another calf and call it 'Lamborghini'. Bet you didn't know that was a brand of tractor!!

In preparation for their arrival, we've set up fences so that they don't get to lick the lounge room windows (sorry guys), and a tiny watering station in view of my writing desk.

But while I've done everything physically possible to have a few cows grazing in the paddock, I don't really feel equipped because I don't have any experience or understanding. Fortunately, our fabulous neighbour will help with lots of wisdom.

In our call to serve and obey the Lord, we can prepare in the physical for what we anticipate, but it is ultimately God's work to EQUIP US.

Looking at Paul's prayer, that equipping is not simply boiled down to 'experience' or 'understanding' (like reading a manual on how to keep cows), but it's the PRODUCTION OF the NEW PERSON... the one who reflects the goodness of God.

I have experienced seasons of life and ministry, feeling grossly under experienced and lacking understanding, but in his wisdom the Lord EQUIPPED me with what I truly needed...

Character shifts.

Heart changes.

Attitude alterations.

Faith lifts.

We can feel unequipped for doing the Lord's will, based on inexperience or a lack of resources. But the starting point we need most, is a humble heart that's hungry for the NEW CREATION.

From that point the Lord will joyfully produce in us, every good thing that is pleasing to him... and that is a glorious equipping!!
