New Covenant Births Freedom

2 Corinthians 3:13-17

Law and punishment is the basis of old covenant. Here's how it works.

God provided through Moses, 10 fundamental rules to govern life and living. These rules must be obeyed not only in outward appearance, but in principal in the secret places of the human heart. Only a person who has 'ticked these boxes' can be present with God, because only holiness can dwell in heaven. The punishment is eternal separation from God, who is love and life itself ... this is death.

So, we go to work on obeying the law and find it's an impossible, relentless and cruel master. It cannot be satisfied; A fire that consumes our every effort with mocking. As we fail and keep failing, these laws become the veil that separates us from God.

However, one person HAS obeyed the law to the letter and in spirit... Jesus. And, as part of God's rescue plan, Jesus obeyed the law on behalf of ALL people for ALL time.

The law is satisfied. It is silenced. It is finished.

The moment a person receives the life of Jesus, they receive what he achieved... that every box is ticked, every demand of the law is satisfied and they are therefore RELEASED from its prison. The captive walks FREE!

New covenant = Receive what Jesus has achieved on our behalf, including a paid death penalty.

Old covenant = DIY.

Romans 10:9 "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead YOU WILL BE SAVED"

The spirit of the old covenant is imprisonment and separation. The Spirit of the new covenant is the Lord, who is the giver of life.

Where Jesus reigns there is freedom from the demands of the law, freedom from the prison of sin and freedom to walk unveiled with God. HALLELUJAH!

Are you walking in new covenant freedom?
