Delicately poised, this spray of pink orchid hung from a coconut tree like a queens pendant. It’s fine structure and vivid colour stood out against the rustic backdrop of grass huts and old push bikes.

It was tempting to touch, but I didn’t want to risk  it being damaged.

Sometimes we feel as delicate as that spray of orchird.; like the wrong word or action will break us.

There are times life exposes us to the elements and we long for a place to hideaway... perhaps wondering ‘who can I trust with my fragile state?’

In this image I recalled Isaiah 42:2-3.

He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break,

and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.

Isaiah speaks of Jesus. A friend and confidant who can handle our most fragile, inner being with the utmost of care.

If you are that ‘bruised reed’ or ‘dying wick’ right now, know that Jesus has the voice, words and heart to preserve and love you.
