Sigiriya Lion Rock

This rising monolith was used by King Kasyapa in 477-495 AD as a fortress, building his palace on top of the rock. Half way up he built a gateway in the form of an enormous Lion and the water featured gardens at the base are the oldest of their kind in the world.

I can’t help but reflect on my Rock, who is Jesus.    The one who stands firm and tall in the landscape of life. He is my fortress to run into and hide.

And like the Sigiriya ancient site, it is only on the foundation of Jesus the Rock, that a palatial home will be built for me in heaven.

While this climb was full of wonder and fascination, I walked the ruins with a smile inside knowing  MY king sits on an everlasting throne.
