Last week, an esteemed friend received the LEGACY AWARD at the 2017 'Christian Media and the Arts Australia' awards.
Wes Jay has installed a legacy in my life, being the voice of wisdom and honesty in the early years of ministry. His instruction over my song writing and recording projects were often challenging; His manner of stretching my mind was occasionally terrifying and his candor put the brakes on my frequent naivety. It wasn't always emotionally glamorous. But if there's one thing I know about Wes, it's that he doesn't invest his time flippantly or throw away pearls. In his estimation there must be potential for growth.
And that investment in growth is less about money and more about serving people in an industry that he loves insanely. Music.
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head
and a chain to adorn your neck.
There's a beautiful gift waiting for any who has the fortitude to bow to wise instruction. A crowning garland and precious necklace is sensational.
But it takes discerning and resolute people like Wes to help distribute such wealth. And therein is the key to his legacy award... integrity, advocacy and nerve. Attributes we can all aspire to.
