Isaiah 60:18 I will exchange your bronze for gold, your iron for silver, your wood for bronze, and your stones for iron. I will make peace your leader and righteousness your ruler.

Ever had an airline ticket or hotel room upgraded? It's a great feeling. You would have survived just fine with what you had, but suddenly got more than you paid for.

This passage reveals a God who loves upgrades. He could cause the current value of bronze to go up. But instead He exchanges it for gold! Once it's turned into gold it's value will never go below bronze. It's an irreversible blessing!

So now that our possessions are upgraded, He sets about insuring that we're not corrupted by them. Upgrades can create spoiled brats but the Lord adds peace and righteous to the blessing. When we're lead by peace we live in a realm of contentment and gratitude for what we have. When we are ruled by righteousness (an authentic dependence on God) His blessings are held with thanksgiving and a generous spirit that we will share with others.

May the Lord upgrade our building materials for life. But may we take responsibility for those blessings through appreciation and generosity.
