Monday 30 June 2005 I met a lovely mum who used to live in Papua New Guinea. She told me a gorgeous story I'd like to pass along to you.
When living in PNG they would take their small children to church. Her son loved biscuits (I think something like Tim Tams) to snack on during church. He would look to her for a bicky and she'd give him one. He would then break the biscuit in half and give one half to another child. He would take the remaining half and break it again for another child, and so on until the biscuit was gone. He looked to mum for another biscuit and continued this way until every other child in church had eaten come biscuit. He left himself till last. Nice eh? Even more profound, he never hestiated to give the biscuits away because he KNEW that the source would never run out. Mum quickly worked out how many biscuits were needed each Sunday. Her son simply reached up for another biscuit and it was there. How our Father in heaven would like us to depend on Him in the same way! To know that we can give and God will continunally ensure we have what we need. Just like that mum, God knows what is required ahead of time and is never caught by surprise. |
