Monday 9th May 2005 I delivered my first mothers day message yesterday at Clontarf Baptist Church. I didn’t head down the usual track of proclaiming how wonderful mothers are. Although motherhood is essential on planet earth…
I wanted to deliver a challenge. Here is the gist of what I shared. Mother is a WHAT. It is what I do, a job description, a role. In the context of my “WHAT” God always has a bigger agenda, and that is my WHO. WHO I am. WHO am I? A daughter of the King. A disciple of Christ. Jesus redefined the place of his own mother in Mark 3:20, when he called her to discipleship. Jesus calls us, not to roles but to relationship. When surrendered and humble, our roles serve as a tool in the shaping of our character, our WHO. Aliki |
