Bio

Aliki was born in Auckland New Zealand, immigrating to Australia at the age of 9. A Greek heritage left her with a name that always raised questions and skin that loves the sun. 'Aliki' means "truth", appropriate given a search that led her to Christian faith. A childhood involving divorce, separation of loved ones and time in foster care made her discovery of Jesus all the more sweet. At age 8 Aliki was holding prayer meetings under trees at school, taking herself to Sunday school and driving her parents insane with the name of Jesus. The following years took many rebellious twists and turns, including diversions to spiritualism and new age practices. Every path a dead end, and every path a learning experience, she returned to her Christian roots after highschool.

Growing up, Aliki's lounge room doubled as a stage. With hair brush in hand, Abba sounds and moves were performed with great passion. A garage band in high school called 'Cloud Nine' was a closer to the real thing, It was in theological college that Aliki starting sharing songs and stories for devotions and chapel services. It opened a whole new world of communication and within a few years she was being asked to share at special events and functions using songs from favourite artists. Authoring articles for Christian publications and writing song lyrics emerged as a passion soon after.

In 2002 Steven Dix took on a mentoring role in song writing and performance.... this was the beginning of Aliki's recording journey. "Signs of Grace" received radio airplay across Australia, the UK and Europe. Songs off the album won national song writing awards (Oz Music) & Best New Artist at Canberra's then "Australian Gospel Music Awards". Video clips were broadcast by Shine TV N and the Australian Christian Channel. In 2004 Aliki quit a conventional lifestyle to live on the road touring the outback of Australia. Work began on a second album recorded at the famed "Mangrove Studios", now "The Grove Studios" at Gosford NSW. At this time, Wes Jay (The Rock Across Australia) noted Aliki as one of Australia's highest selling Christian Artists. Subsequent albums, books, articles and teaching videos followed.

Ministry - Extended

Since 1994, Aliki has inspired hope and faith in Australians from all walks of life - from CEO’s to drug addicts. The message of grace is delivered in a down to earth series of humorous stories, beautiful songs and revelations of God. In 2004, Square One Ministries was established with the successful pursuit of touring remote and ‘forgotten’ parts of Australia.

ALIKI's style is prophetic, disarming and engaging, using metaphors to communicate often deep truths. Her transparency in sharing her own successes and failings brings men and women to often comment:  'today you spoke just to me.' Part of ALIKI’s gift is in quickly building trust with her audience, no matter where they're positioned in their spiritual journey.

ALIKI’s ministry to women consistently brings healing, revelation, prophetic prayer and salvation. This has made her a sort after keynote speaker for women’s conferences, sharing extensively across Australia and also in New Zealand. There's an ever present and increasing need to see women released into the fullness of peace, restoration and life. For ALIKI, this is an absolute passion.

“The bible says that the kindness of God leads people to repentance. I believe this 100% true and  makes the good news, exactly that. Good. I meet too many people in churches who have bad news. They are spiritually miserable and distant from God, because they can’t live up to the standards of Jesus. This is why I love sharing the gospel pure and unadulterated. Highlighting the risen life, not just the fact that we are forgiven. Being loved and accepted by a merciful God is enough to transform the most rugged or broken life. How do I know? I’ve seen it throughout Australia, over and over again……”  ALIKI

Newspaper and Magazine

The outback landscape is beautiful to some and a barren waste of time to others. Last June, on a flight from Darwin to Brisbane, a woman called ALIKI watched it sprawl endlessly from 35,000 feet. The stereotypical sunset of sapphire on burnt orange captivated some passengers, but most closed their eyes to sleep. Even though Aliki had flown this way before, she looked in appreciation at how something so dry can also be attractive. Aliki’s weird name comes from a Greek heritage, but she speaks with a slight kiwi accent and was raised in Australia. Since 2004 she has travelled many outback and city miles to appreciate Australia’s most valuable commodity, it’s people.

'Down to earth' and 'captivating' are the two most commonly used phrases to describe conference speaker and performer Aliki Flodine. Eight years ago she quit a conventional lifestyle to head out in a Troop Carrier and 14ft Viscount caravan to inspire and encourage ordinary Australians in their journey of life. Today, she is one of Australia's highest selling gospel artists. Aliki shares at over 150 events per year to crowds of 10,000 on lit up stages to outback stations under washing lines and stars. Her reputation is built on her belief as a Christian, that every person has inherent value and deserves second chances for tomorrow. Aliki inspires audiences through personal stories that are often embarassing and humorous. Her ‘raw and real’ style has connected with all Australians: from CEO’s and politicians, full time mums and workforce woman, recovering drug addicts and prostitutes, Christians, Muslims and Hare Krishna’s; to tough old farmers and broken down men who’ve lost their way.

‘Restoration’ is one of Aliki’s favourite words. She describes it as taking something that isn’t all it should be and making it more of what it could be. Her concerts and storytelling revolve around this one word. Her garage has sparked a presentation about hope, just for the blokes. Aliki is restoring two classic Saab 99’s in a shed piled up with parts she found and bought on ebay all over the globe. Her tails of dismantling, making mistakes and hoping for the best leave audiences shaking their head in wonder at two things: Firstly, the stark contrast of the woman standing before them to on screen pictures of a grease monkey on the garage floor. Secondly, the parallel of restoring an old car, to the possibilities of restoring a broken life.

Aliki describes her philosophy here:  “Naturally, people don’t appreciate having religion jammed down their throat. Even with a ‘teaspoon of sugar’ nobody is fooled. But over the years I’ve shared with a broad spectrum of Aussie culture, and I’ve discovered that nobody minds kindness or being told that they’re valuable. The bible says that the kindness of God gets people interested in Him. So that’s all I do. It’s a simple mission of revealing my version of heaven to people who desire a leg up.”

It doesn’t take audiences long to realise that Aliki’s not a super saint. The stories are too revealing for pretence. But that’s what people appreciate most, an honest look at life, faith, purpose and hope. For more information about ALIKI visit www.aliki.com.au
